DI to die for…
A reimagining of the legendary D.W. Fearn VT-1/F, the VDI is an all-triode Vacuum Tube Direct Box in a single channel configuration. Unlike the original VT-I/F dual channel design, the VDI is a single channel offering housed in a robust, low profile steel chassis, ready to slip into a backpack or gig bag.
Designed for both stage and studio work, the VDI is offered as part of the Hazelrigg Industries Solutions Series by D.W. Fearn and will deliver incredible results with amplified acoustic instruments, electric bass and guitar, synths or more.
The operation is simple as can be. The front panel includes a 1/4” Instrument Input jack as well as a 1/4” Thru connector to pass the signal on to a guitar or bass amplifier if desired. The mic level output signal is available on an XLR Connector, ready to be patched to a premium Microphone Preamp such as the D.W. Fearn VT-1, VT-2, VT-24 or Hazelrigg Industries VLC. Finally a Ground Lift option is provided to address Ground Loop issues should they arise.
The more utilitarian rear panel features an IEC Mains Socket, Power Switch and 115V-220V Mains Selector.
Sharing the same high-headroom circuit design as the venerable VT-I/F, the VDI will provide stunningly dynamic results on electric bass and guitar, add power and girth to vintage (or modern!) synths and bring a depth and realism to piezo-equipped acoustic instruments that simply must be heard.

“After re-amping all the guitars and bass, I was quite pleased with the final sounds. All the final re-amped tracks had this interesting polish that I'd never quite achieved with my current DI’s.” READ

“I mean, it’s a D.I., it should just be signal in to signal out, but there’s a warmth, a solid bottom end, and what feels like a touch of “compression,” going on that is simply lush and pleasant to the ear.” READ

“Sonically, the VDI delivers in droves, with clear, full, warm tone and delightful clarity on bass, electric guitars, synths, and so on. There’s not as much to say about the VDI; you plug it all in, it works, and it sounds incredible.” READ
